The Moon Spot - 28.26 August 2006 (UT)
John Drummond, New Zealand
Tonight, as I was setting up my scope, I had a quick look at the Moon and saw a very bright speck of light on its rim in its southern portion. I'm not much of a Moon man but it may be near the crater 'Scott' at a rough postion of Longitude E 31.32, Latitude S 79.41. At first I thought it was a bright star reappearing, but it kept staying there. I presume that it's a bright mountain face reflecting sunlight, but gosh it's bright! It's certainly worth a look while it's there - or perhaps try next month...
