2009 Gissy Gathering
Fri 13th - Sun/Mon 15th November 2009
Possum Observatory, Gisborne
* The Gissy Gathering will be held at a dark sky site about 11 kms from Gisborne (people are welcome to stay Fri, Sat, Sun nights). This is an impromptu socialising and observing four night event - however, if you have an astronomical-type presentation then please bring it along...
* It will be held on a small farm near the little township of Patutahi. The site offers a dark sky. The weather in Gisborne is often fine and so we're hoping for a clear weekend.
* The weekend costs $5 per person, per night to cover power and water. Accomodation is either tents, caravans (bring your own), or sleeping communally in various rooms in John's house. BYO food and drink. Aparantly a shop will be open in Patutahi by then. If you want a fun, social and observing weekend please come along!!!
If you are keen on coming please contact me (John Drummond) here. My home number is (06) 8627 557, my mobile is 0275 609 287.

How to get to the farm...
Basically I am 11km to the west of Gisborne near (.5-1km) the small township of Patutahi. At the large roundabout by the Waipoa River to the west of Gisborne (SH2) take the road heading towards Patutahi, stay on this road for about 4.5 kms until you reach Bilham Road (5th on the right), turn into this road, I am the first house on the left (no. 23 Bilham Rd)... I'll have a Gizzy-Gathering sign on the corner. All welcome!
