MONTHLY OBSERVATIONS - P.O. - MAY 2003
May was a reasonable month as far as clear nights is concerned. On a scale of 1 to 5 (1=less than 20% cloud, 2=20%-40%, 3=40%-60%, 4=60%-80%, 5=80-100%cloud/rain) the average at sunset was 2.2 (20% cloud - and often the cloud clears after sunset).
For May I mainly concentrated on comet observations and astrophotography.
The following figures were issued by Gisborne's metrological office...
| For Month | Sunshine hrs | Rainfall | Max Temp | Min Temp | Sea Temp at... | Pipe | Wales | |
| May 2003 | (my measure) | 16.5*C | 16*C |
