Omega Centauri (NGC 5139) - Centaurus. The brightest and largest globular cluster in the sky covers an area the size of the moon and shines at mag 3.7. It contains thousands of stars and is about 16,000 light years away. Through a moderately sized scope it is a myriad of blazing stars forming a giant spherical ball. It's easy to get lost in the almost 3-D appearance. A most impressive sight.
