GISBORNE - POSSUM OBSERVATORY
Gisborne is a sleepy
little city (pop. 32,000) on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island
(178* 40' E, 38* 02' S). Blessed with hot dry summers and cool frosty winters
it is an ideal horticultural fruit bowl - in addition to being a great
place to check out the night sky. Long white deserted beaches stand in
contrast to the vivid blue of the South Pacific Ocean which produce consistently
pounding swells to make Gisborne the surfing Mecca of New Zealand.
